Paul Kei Matsuda is currently a professor of English and the director of second language writing at Arizona State University. He has published numerous papers in the areas of second language writing, composition studies, and applied linguistics. He is considered as one of the main scholars of second language writing research in the world.

Paul Kei Matsuda目前就职于亚利桑那州立大学，任英语系教授、博士生导师和二语写作中心主任。他在二语写作和应用语言学领域发表了多篇论文并出版了专著，被认为是国际上二语写作研究最有影响力的学者之一。

This course introduces students to the field of applied linguistics. The course will begin with the discussion of the shift in knowledge enterprise. It will then provide an overview of various topics and subtopics within the field, and detailed discussion of some of the key topics, including language teaching, second language acquisition, discourse analysis, pragmatics, translation studies and second language writing.
